Miriam David (b. Sydney, Australia) is a multidisciplinary artist currently living and working in New York City. She received her Honors degree in Fine Arts from the College of Fine Arts (UNSW), where she discovered her passion for printmaking. In 2023, she studied relief printing at the Royal Drawing School in London, further refining and deepening her approach to the medium.
As a print maker her practice captures everyday moments and what lies beneath them. Interweaving ideas and themes from both past and present, Miriam’s compositions romantise the universal, engaging with the interplay between magical thinking and reality. Her figures, objects and symbols are often found suspended or floating, as she plays with perspective, movement, ephemerality.
Through ink, paper, mark-making, duplication and colour, her body of work invites viewers to ascribe new narratives based on personal and collective memory and imagination.
Her work to date has been part of various group exhibitions, featured in publications as well as album covers of notable musicians. Most recently, she exhibited her work in her first solo showcase titled ‘all are my favourite, here are just some.’
She has partnered with a friend, a woodworker, to develop hand-carved complimentary frames for her works. Each is similar but different in their details, reflecting the true nature of lino print.
